Donate to your Community

Every Goodwill employment and training success story begins with a donation. By giving to Goodwill, you are doing much more than just funding and supporting our programs and services, you are helping us change lives through the power of work. Each year, our programs benefit hundreds of people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Here's how your donation helps:
  • You donate to Goodwill - things like clothes, appliances, furniture, cars or dollars.
  • Your donated items are processed for resale by Goodwill employees, many of whom have disabilities or other disadvantages.
  • Your donation is resold in a Goodwill retail store. Our stores provide retail jobs and career training to people with disabilities or disadvantages.
  • Goodwill store revenues support community-based workforce development and training programs.
  • Participants in Goodwill training and employment programs come to know the thrill of personal empowerment - the joy that comes from earning a paycheck. Their employers, in turn, receive skilled, dedicated employees.
  • With Goodwill's help, local communities prosper. People once relying on government assistance (taxpayer dollars) become taxpayers themselves and contribute to the economic vitality of their communities.
  •
What happens to donated items that aren't sold at Goodwill stores? Our goal is to try to generate money to fund Goodwill programs from every item that is donated. So in most cases, we'll do what we can to sell items through our retail stores. As for items that can't be sold in our stores, we've found other creative uses for them. Other items that are damaged or don't sell through our retail stores in a reasonable amount of time are sold to salvage brokers or through our clearance center.

So, if you are running out of space in your closets, garage and other storage spots in your home or business, chances are good you are overdue for a recycling-cleaning spree. Just box or bag those items you no longer need and drop them off at any Goodwill donation location. Sometimes it's hard to say goodbye to that favorite item, but you can feel good knowing that your donation will be enjoyed by someone else who will put it to good use and the proceeds will help fund Goodwill employment and training programs.
